Weekdays interrupted
The Christmas build up can find us having even busier days than normal can’t it. What is supposed to be, for the Christian, a time of reflection and peace on the story of light in darkness can become an endless whirl of activity.
I think often of the story of the shepherds and the angels interrupting their work , their everyday life and calling them to set off and worship. And they just did.
There may not be singing angel choirs calling us to stop and worship but we can find ways to remind ourselves. One of the ways I interrupt my own work days is to use my quiet space, a meditation chair in my front room to spend the first few minutes of every day just quietly sitting with God, drinking my cuppa and meditating on a scripture.
Do you have daily habits that cause a pause?
Can I invite you to interrupt your own busy days and full thoughts with moments of self emptying quiet.
Just as that first Christmas God quietly snuck into our world with peace that was beyond understanding may He creep into your ordinary thoughts and workaday weeks with His presence and peace. May you hear the angels sing over the fields of your ordinary days.
May He interrupt you regularly with His love.
